TNT – “The People Network” and How It Was Made.

Below are two videos from who produced TNT’s “The People Network” directed by Mischa Rozema. There is the original spot, and then the making of / behind the scenes video as well. The original spot is a really, really solid piece of work, but as usual I am completely fascinated by the video that shows just how complex the production of this was. One of the things I really like about the behind the scenes documentary, is the fact that they talk about developing storyboards, and using animatics to determine things like cameras, lighting, lenses, etc. All of those things are hugely important for such an ambitious project. The crew is listed below both videos and I have to say, I’m surprised its not larger considering what went into the production and post production of this spot. For more info on the production click here.

“We decided to really push what could be achieved in camera by actually creating a full size human truck on the set. It worked by having a huge, truck-sized, metal rig that could be pulled by an actual truck. We then filled it with an incredible Czech stunt team (famous for big Hollywood blockbusters) that had been rehearsing for weeks and gave the whole project a realistic approach.”

Disney XD “Chain Reaction” Indents.

PostPanic has produced a series of indents for DisneyXD Netherlands promoting the summer theme of “Chain Reactions”. Directed by Erwin van den IJssel the short spots feature Rube Goldberg machine interactions crafted entirely out of objects kids could find at home. His goal was to capture the childhood joy of building things that would make your parents scratch their heads with a complete lack of understanding.

The main characters of each piece are cuts outs of the kids themselves with snapshot photos pasted on each of the cardboard figures. Because the indents are for Dutch TV, Disney XD specified that they have a very specific “Dutch” feel to them. To insure that look was achieved Erwin van den IJssel and PostPanic dressed the sets with recognizable Dutch materials and products, using various food packaging and products  to create each scene.

Each indent is story driven, and captures the playful joy of childhood and summer fun.

Rocketman! BSUR and PostPanic’s 2 Minute History of MINI.

Some days you stumble across things that ignite your passions on a number of fronts. As a MINI owner, the Rocketman concept gets me going because it is a cool looking MINI concept. As a guy that does a lot of  animation, motion graphics designer, video editing and special effects, this video for the Rocketman gets me going because of the superb use of great animation, motion graphics, green screen shots, post production, editing, and integrated CGI. This product film for the MINI Rocketman was created by BSUR and PostPanic. This two-minute short film tells the history of MINI using both 2D and 3D animation combined with live action footage. which is PostPanic’s specialty.
